Bleeding Disorders Alliance Illinois (BDAI) is a 501c3 organization founded in 1949 to serve individuals and families with inheritable bleeding disorders throughout Illinois. BDAI’s mission is to improve the quality of life for the inheritable bleeding disorders community by providing affected individuals and their families with unbiased information and resources that help all affected lead healthy and active lives.
The Executive Director is the Chief Administrative Officer for the Bleeding Disorders Alliance Illinois (BDAI) and as such is responsible for the management and supervision of all operations in accordance with the intent of the board of directors and consistent with the organization's bylaws and state regulations.
The Executive Director will mentor and direct a staff of up to 3-5 employees and volunteers to perform tasks, programs, and events to advance the organization and improve the quality of life for members. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
· Responsible for the planning, organization, and direction of the organization’s operations and programs.
· Prioritizes fundraising efforts to grow programing and services for the community.
· Develops and implements cost accounting policies, procedures, and operational reporting and metrics.
· Oversees and reports on the organization’s activities for the board of directors.
· Ensures that services and funding relationships are robust enough to meet or exceed strategic goals and objectives.
· Prepares accurate and timely analyses that capture and communicate fundraising results, variances, and performance trends.
· Provides leadership to and manages the efforts of site staff to ensure appropriate support of all departments.
· Coordinates and leads annual budget reviews, monthly and quarterly reviews, and periodic forecast updates with operational and senior management.
· Retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and cadre of volunteers by providing professional development for employees and development training for the board of directors.

· Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
· Grant sourcing and/or writing experience preferred
· Knowledge of inheritable bleeding disorders or a willingness to learn
· Understanding of and willingness to maintain client confidentiality
· Willingness and ability to work flexible hours with some travel both in the metropolitan area and beyond for BDAI events and regional and national training and conferences
· Ability to relate to and work with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in health services, finance, accounting, or management preferred with at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience
· Five (5) or more years of management experience in an operational environment, non-profit is a plus
· Experience in collaborative partnerships, personnel supervision, budgeting, fiscal management, and fundraising
Hours and Benefits
· Work full time (40 hours per week) including periodic evening and weekend events
· May work one or two days remotely
· Occasional travel
· Salary from $85,000, commensurate with experience, plus potential bonuses
