The American Diabetes Association (ADA) seeks an individual for the position of Senior Manager, Grassroots Advocacy. Reporting to the Vice President, Grassroots Advocacy and Community Engagement, this position is responsible for implementing and maintaining the day-to-day tasks associated with ADA’s Grassroots Advocacy program, including but not limited to drafting and processing alerts, surveys, and other advocate communications, assisting with coordinating and implementing advocacy meetings and events. Candidates for this position must have strong writing skills and experience using online tools for advocacy and be able to manage multiple priority projects. The ideal candidate has an understanding of the federal legislative process and experience in grassroots recruitment, training, and mobilization. This is a remote working position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support with grassroots advocacy communications
- Create and disseminate advocacy action alerts while developing meaningful connections with advocates
- Produce materials to support our federal and state legislative priorities that contribute to the overall goal of political involvement and awareness of our advocacy efforts
- Maintain grassroots database and prepare reports
- Coordinate division meetings and events
- Deliver high quality customer service to all constituents
- Ensure compliance with ADA policies, including risk management and financial controls
- Demonstrate integrity, collaboration, a growth/innovative mindset, and strong stewardship skills
- Provide support with other duties and projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s degree, preferred
- 3-5 years’ experience in grassroots advocacy
- Strong written and interpersonal skills
- A strong personal commitment to preventing and curing diabetes and improving the lives of all people affected by diabetes
- Event and meeting organization experience
- Some travel may be required
