Family Health Centers of San Diego is looking for a Lean/Kaizen Facilitator who is responsible for managing lean and kaizen processes across FHCSD's organization. This position will support key organizational and operational improvement initiatives. Under general supervision, this position will develop and sustain efficiency created through process changes and related Lean methodologies, providing leadership and surveillance with actionable insights and recommendations. The role involves plan development, stakeholder engagement, team building, training and company-wide education aimed at ensuring all staff have Lean and kaizen foundation principles.

Job roles may include a combination of the following functions:

1. Lead groups in identifying their own improvements projects to improve efficiency and eliminate waste (Muda).

2. Work with executive management, site leaders and front-line staff resolve operational problems, using observational data and Lean principles to propose effective and sustainable strategies.

3. Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of Lean projects across multiple sites, ensuring alignment with overall operational initiatives, efficiency improvements, and waste reduction objectives.

4. Lead staff in observational activities at various admin and care sites, to identify Muda, and the need for greater efficiency. Work in the GEMBA with teams in identifying process improvements opportunities.

5. Re-engage previous FHCSD foundation trainers and develop a training plan to train all staff. Oversee kaizen Foundation Training.

7. Work with teams to develop policies and SOPs from the successful work of the LEAN teams and kaizen teams. Documentation from the respective work of the GEMBA teams will standardize processes across multiple sites with a goal of mutual agreement on "how we work".

8. Coordinate with Lean and kaizen teams, the publication and dissemination of new SOPs across various sites, ensuring staff at all levels understand and can effectively apply Lean methodologies.

10. Participate in the facilitation of various meetings at clinic and program locations and administrative sites, presented by LEAN and kaizen trainers.

11. Working with all LEAN/Kaizen trainers, mentor, train, and evaluate Lean approaches across the organization, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and Lean SOP practices, that result in a high reliability organization and a model for "how we work" at FHCSD. Employ the 5 principles of kaizen in training and GEMBA work: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, master's degree, preferred with a major in business administration, engineering, healthcare administration, operations management, or a closely related field to the assignment.
  • Experience in Lean/kaizen systems, training, with preferred certification certifications in kaizen foundation training, 5S, Kaizen Teian, and other competencies.
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in a leadership role implementing LEAN/kaizen practices across diverse teams and projects.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of LEAN/kaizen methodology, organization, and management necessary to analyze and evaluate operations, services, and programs. A deep understanding of the LEAN/kaizen tools and techniques, their applications, and their role in driving operational efficiency and quality improvement.
  • Proven ability to collect and evaluate data, draw meaningful conclusions, and formulate recommendations to drive improvement using LEAN/kaizen principles. Skilled in leveraging data to guide decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
  • Track record of successfully interpreting and navigating legislative and administrative mandates and regulations related to healthcare and ensuring LEAN/kaizen initiatives align wi#th these requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of LEAN teams, fostering a culture of safety, learning, engagement, and high performance.

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base range for this position, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.

101,346.00 - 154,885.00

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
