Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Executive Director of the President’s Council and the Senior Director of Special Events, the Associate Director of the President’s Council and Special Events assists in the cultivation of the President’s Council and the strategic development and implementation of all signature events for Fordham University, ranging in scale from 20 to 1,000 guests.

The Associate Director employs an entrepreneurial, collaborative, and results- oriented approach to facilitate the production of high-quality events that foster involvement, recognition, cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising experiences for upper-level donors.

This position requires evening and weekend hours.

 

Essential Functions

  • Joins the Senior Executive Director of the President’s Council in the cultivation and stewardship efforts of the President’s Council, including but not limited to the identification of prospective members, drafting communications, event attendance tracking, and the planning and execution of meetings and events.
  • Enhances fundraising efforts, including creating an intentional pipeline from the Parents’ Leadership Council to the President’s Council, identifying and cultivating younger President’s Council members, and building strategies for engaging and encouraging them to give at higher levels.
  • Facilitates the President’s Council’s reach nationwide by identifying and recruiting new regional members and providing support for regional Council events.
  • Develops partnerships with various departments, centers, and offices across the University to identify and create strategic opportunities for President’s Council members to engage with the University community, bolstering the more than 100 President’s Council engagements with young alumni and students each year.
  • Generates fundraising tracking and reporting, including follow-up communications and invoicing for gifts or tickets/tables for the annual Fordham Founder’s Dinner
  • Partners in developing concepts, themes, speakers, formats, procedures, and timelines for major events, including meetings, lectures, conferences,
    receptions, formal dinners, fundraising benefits and dinners, dedication events, athletics-related events, etc.
  • Partners in fundraising efforts – individual and corporate sponsorships for the annual Fordham Women’s Summit.

Additional Functions

  • Organizes and helps execute major invitation and letter mailings, including data pulls, for signature and/or fundraising events.
  • Facilitates post-event coordination, including but not limited to debrief meetings, recognition of key constituents, financial reporting, and data
    transfer.
  • Participates in the negotiations with venues, consultants, and vendors to secure rates that enhance budgets, including but not limited to catering, entertainment, lighting/audio, staging, photography, security, facilities, and custodial-related services; equipment rentals, d?cor, site visits/recommendations, and space reservations.
  • Develops content for event correspondence, collateral materials, and web in collaboration with marketing colleagues – for both the President’s
    Council and Special Events.
  • Exhibits dedication to Fordham University and its mission and the ability to fully articulate it to all.

 

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing, Liberal Arts, Communications, English, Public Relations, Hospitality Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in event planning or donor relations.

 

Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and events-related software (e.g. check-in and seating apps).
  • Excellent time management, organization, and multitasking abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and client satisfaction.
  • Comfortable working independently.
  • Demonstrated quick yet efficient problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with fundraising activities and related events.
  • Familiarity with relational databases and software, and reporting.
  • Project management experience, including familiarity with relevant software.

 

Minimum Starting Salary: $85,000

Maximum Starting Salary: $95,000

Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
