Job Summary

Postdoctoral research fellow position at the University of Michigan Medical School, Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation to work with Dr. Emily Brice?o.

Primary Project (NIH/NIA RF1AG088009): Mild Cognitive Impairment and Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias: Cross-national longitudinal prognosis and risk factors

Responsibilities*

The postdoctoral scientist will conduct research for an NIH-funded project among culturally, linguistically, and educationally diverse older adults, taking a multidisciplinary approach to understanding cognitive aging and Alzheimer?s disease and related dementias (ADRD) across different national contexts.

The selected candidate will work on projects focused on the unique and shared sociodemographic, lifestyle, health, and biological risk factors associated with mild cognitive impairment and dementia across the US, Mexico, and India. Research will take place in close collaboration with faculty mentors. This position is in collaboration with Dr. Miguel Arce Renteria at Columbia University. Opportunities for co-mentoring with Drs. Brice?o and Arce will be available

The research fellow will lead and support the analyses of existing longitudinal data in order to begin to develop an independent line of research. The fellow will be exposed to various training opportunities related to the investigation of cognitive aging among linguistically and socio-culturally diverse older adults. Duties include data management and analysis, research presentations at national and international conferences, publishing peer-reviewed manuscripts, participating in seminars and work groups, and collaborating on research grant applications. The fellow will be expected to apply modern data analytic approaches, write manuscripts and grant proposals, and participate in a productive research team.

Proposed Start: Flexible start date. Winter 2025 or earlier preferred. 

Term: 1 year, with 2nd and/or 3rd year extension contingent upon satisfactory progress.
