Job Description

Since 1973, the UC San Diego Health System Burn Center has served our communities with state-of-the-art burn care and survivor support for families and friends, provided community education, emergency medical personnel training, and conducted research for the advancement of burn care. The Burn Center includes eight critical care beds to treat the most seriously burned patients, 10 intermediate beds, and a full-time burn outpatient clinic. There are approximately 400 inpatients, 3,000 burn clinic visits and 2,500 Wound Center patient visits per year.
The successful candidate provides direct care to acute burn patients, infants through to seniors, using the nursing process. Collaborates with other disciplines to develop multidisciplinary plan and care. Promotes independence and self-care through education. Skilled in pain management, wound care assessment and pediatric sedation recovery.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
RN license issued by the State of California.
BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get UCSD ART within six (6) months of hire date.
Current PALS certification, or required to obtain within six (6) months of hire.
Two (2) years adult acute care ICU or Emergency Department RN experience. (If insufficient applicant pool, department may consider RNs with one year of ICU, ED, or PCU/Step-Down RN experience.)
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Must be able to work within a team environment.
BSN.
Wound care experience.
Burn experience.
Pediatric experience.
Bilingual: English/Spanish.
- Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts (including nights, days, weekends and holidays), on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
- Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII or CNIV level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $123,902 - $173,659 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $59.34 - $83.17
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
