Summary of Duties
Assist in providing security and assistance for all Lima Campus students, faculty and staff; assist in protecting all Lima Campus buildings and vehicles by making and providing for routine rounds or checks of buildings, walkways, grounds, and parking lots.
Duties & Responsibilities
Hours of work will vary throughout the year. Work hours will be arranged on a weekly basis; and must be able to cover another work shift with only a few hours’ notice. Under the direction of the Safety-Security Supervisor, the Safety- Security Officer shall perform the following:
- Assist in providing security and assistance for all Lima Campus students, faculty and staff; assist in protecting all Lima Campus buildings and vehicles by making and providing for routine rounds or checks of buildings, walkways, grounds, and parking lots.
- Issue parking citations, check on vehicles, assist with lock-outs and starting cars, assist with towing illegally parked vehicles, etc.
- Provide escort services between campus buildings and parking lots.
- Respond to calls for service such as crimes, traffic crashes, and medical emergencies on campus. Make/assist in making appropriate notifications of law enforcement, fire or emergency medical service agencies.
- Be alert to safety hazards in buildings, on grounds and parking lots and reporting same in timely fashion to maintenance.
- Lock down buildings, labs, classrooms, and offices at night or anytime campus is closed. Open buildings as needed.
- Check locked buildings, labs, classrooms, and offices while making rounds to insure their security.
- Open buildings, labs, classrooms during regular business hours daily.
- Investigate suspicious activity and make appropriate notifications to law enforcement if needed.
- Make appropriate Safety and Security log entries, reports, and maintenance requests.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
Experience, Skills & Abilities
Required:
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to deal politely and effectively with faculty, staff, students and general public.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR.
Education & Certifications
Required:
- High school diploma.
Preferred:
- Two-year Associate Degree or its equivalent.
- Law enforcement experience and OPOTA certification.
