Summary
In the Sr. Advisor, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) role, you will play an important part in Save the Children US’s (SCUS) DEI strategy, programs, organizational structure, and related activities. You will be responsible for advancing the initiatives, programs, and activities related to the strategic framework, including the action plans and day-to-day support of SCUS Employee Affinity Groups (EAG), DEI Council and related DEI working groups. You will assist with the establishment of long term operational objectives by researching, creating measurable metrics and tracking factors that may impact the success of programs and initiatives. This key position provides thought partnership, guidance, and support related to the alignment, governance, administrative, and operational facets of DEI efforts. You will collaborate with others to provide input into the strategic plans and will also collaborate with partners and stakeholders, including the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), EAG Executive Sponsors, People & Culture, Divisions, subject matter experts, and external organizations.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Program Management – 70%
- Develop and drive programs and initiatives aligned with SCUS DEI framework and strategy, in close partnership with the Chief Diversity Officer (CDO)
- Provide program leadership, guidance, and support to EAGs and their leaders, as well as to DEI Council Members, including execution, communications, initiatives, events, and day-to-day consultation and operations
- Drive the establishment of long term operational objectives by researching, creating measurable metrics, and tracking factors that may impact the success of DEI efforts and programs
- Facilitate the education of EAGs, the DEI Council and related working groups around the role of People & Culture and available resources, enabling them to navigate talent-related policies, practices, compliance, and support for employees. Partner with Talent Acquisition on diversity recruitment efforts
- Partner with CDO and People & Culture to review agency policies and procedures to embed DEI lens and accountability, as well as support the establishment of a DEI data transparency plan
- Work to support career development opportunities and programs for diverse staff members
- Support the establishment and delivery of DEI trainings and provide coaching to promote and enhance inclusive leadership competencies. Aid in identifying and creating learnings, tools, and resources that position staff to effectively serve as allies and inclusive leaders. Develop communications and presentations for leadership and the Board of Directors. Facilitate learning workshops and focus groups for staff, partnering with P&C and other stakeholders for execution
Partnership and Relationship Management – 30%
- Collaborate with CDO, DEI Council, EAGs, People & Culture team and other internal and external stakeholders to enable meaningful connections, communications, and support for deliverables
- Foster teamwork, collaboration, and a sense of belonging among and within groups, facilitating crucial conversations and conflict resolution as needed
- Facilitate partnerships between EAGs, internal partners, and external organizations to grow and support a robust and diverse talent pipeline, advance outreach efforts, and enhance SCUS’s brand image reputation as an employer of choice. Assist in managing DEI networks with affiliated groups
- Build solid and effective relationships with senior leadership and other key partners and stakeholders to ensure buy-in and support of SCUS DEI priorities
- Promote visibility and engagement of Global DEI Taskforce with international member entities
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 7 years of relevant experience in Human Resources, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion or related programs or an equivalent experience
- Demonstrated experience managing and collaborating with diverse stakeholders to build trust and strong partnerships across various functions and levels, including executives, employee groups, external vendors (including colleges and universities), and consultants
- Solid consultation skills regarding workplace DEI concerns
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging
- Excellent coaching skills and experience in fostering leadership and professional development for individuals and groups in support of workplace belonging and inclusion and promoting a growth mindset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills
- Completion of diversity, equity, and inclusion-related training(s) and/or coursework
- Successful track record of working well under pressure, managing and adapting to multiple and changing priorities, and working successfully in a complex environment
- Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
- Previous experience in research administration and project management, coordination and delivery
- Previous experience with talent recruiting and acquisition
Compensation
Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location:
- Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average: Target Salary for this position is $108,800 – $121,600 base salary
- Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $98,600 – $110,200 base salary
- Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Target Salary for this position is $88,400 – $98,800 base salary
The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available here). Employee may be eligible for an incentive program.
